Diseinuaren Artisauak – Design Artisans is a documentary that premiered in November 2021 as part of the programming for the International Architecture Biennale of Euskadi.
The documentary captures the experiences of the men and women behind the companies Akaba, Arkaia, Ondarreta, Sellex, Enea, B.Lux, Treku, and Imat from a humanistic and historical perspective.
The work chronicles the history of eight leading design furniture companies in Euskadi, giving voice to personal and collective testimonies.
The piece consists of 15 interviews where the creators of these companies and the successors who took over are the protagonists. Additionally, it offers the chance to enjoy footage filmed in the beech forests of the wonderful Gorbeia Natural Park and archival material provided by the companies themselves.
The documentary was commissioned by HABIC, the Design Cluster of Euskadi, and has been screened at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and the Villa Suso Palace in Gasteiz, among other locations.
